Sierra Steplewski, Professional Pet Caretaker

"As a pre-schooler I loved to sit in the backyard until dusk singing with cicadas and crickets."

Neighborhoods: Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights

About me: I'm grateful to fulfill my profound connection with animals and Nature every day working at ProspectBArk. In west Tejas, I was born into a household that embraced dogs (mutts, a border collie, corgi mix, huskies), cats, birds, and hamsters as family. As a pre-schooler I loved to sit in the backyard until dusk singing with cicadas and crickets. By elementary I was rescuing wounded birds in the neighborhood to nurture them back to health. I spent my childhood hoping to transform the world as a musical vet, so I volunteered at the Del Rio Animal Shelter to rehabilitate strays - both dogs and cats - while performing with my community theatre. Fast forward to the present and I'm happily a freelance performance artist with the most amazing canine and feline friends in Boerum Hill!

Favorite Dog Breed: I adore all types of pups and kitties because each one has a unique personality, though I must admit I'm a little biased to huskies and pugs.

What do I do when I'm not walkin' dogs? As a theatre enthusiast, I'm highly interested in modernist theatre forms, especially performance art, Butoh, mycology, shamanism, and ethnobotany.
