Fort Greene / Clinton Hill

Fort Greene: Nestled between Downtown Brooklyn to the west and Clinton Hill to the east lies Fort Greene. It is neither hipster Williamsburg nor stroller-dominated Park Slope, but instead a salt- and-pepper neighborhood where housing projects sit just down the block from six-figure brownstones, where a man can walk into a hair salon and shoot another man just a few streets from a café that sells $4 lattes. Bound together through a common zip code, Fort Greene’s residents differ in color, occupation and lifestyle; for some it is the place they have always known, for others it is a destination, another rung climbed on the social ladder.
